Catastrophe Hits as Inadvertent Detonation at Police Station in Kashmir Region Under Indian Control Results in Nine Fatalities
A tragic blast at a security post in Indian-administered Kashmir has caused the loss of nine individuals and injuries to thirty-two others, according to police declarations.
The occurrence took place when a stockpile of seized explosive materials unintentionally detonated during processing activities.
Sequence of Occurrences
The explosion happened on the evening of Friday at the Nowgam security post, where blast substances confiscated in Faridabad in the northern state of Haryana state were being stored temporarily.
Regional police chief stated that the explosives were awaiting forensic examination when a "deeply regrettable" mishap during processing caused their detonation at approximately 23:20 in the evening.
Authority Declarations
Security forces asserted that this was an "unintentional explosion" and not a terrorist attack. "Different conjectures regarding the origin of this occurrence is unnecessary," highlighted the security director during a press briefing.
The law enforcement facility endured significant harm from the blast, with adjacent buildings also being influenced by the powerful blast.
Aftermath and Fatalities
Numerous cars were "covered in blaze and reduced to charred husks, with debris scattered across the site," according to official reports.
"The intensity of the blast was so extreme that some human remains were found in adjacent homes, approximately 100-200 metres away the security post," reported an official source.
The majority of the casualties were police officers, along with forensic personnel, two crime scene photographers, and a garment worker who was with the team.
Government Reaction
The territory's Regional Leader conveyed condolences and announced that an investigation had been directed into the tragic incident.
"I have directed a inquiry to establish the reason of the unintentional blast. Deeply anguished by the fatalities of important persons due to exceptionally devastating unintentional explosion at Nowgam law enforcement facility in the Srinagar area. My condolences to the grieving relatives. I pray for speedy recovery of the injured," stated the authority on online channels.
