Hulu to Bring a Far Cry TV Series from the Creators of Alien: Earth and the Comedy Hit.
The latest action-packed game that players explored was Far Cry 6, that starred Giancarlo Esposito as the bad guy, Antón, and debuted during October 6, 2021. As a series, it is known for embracing violence and madness with the same enthusiasm, all while weaving captivating, socially charged stories. No wonder then that FX's recent announcement for a Far Cry anthology series attracted two producers whose work have embodied all of those things.
What to Expect
Based on Ubisoft's popular video game series, the self-contained anthology series is set to premiere on Hulu and will be created by FX Productions. The series will also follow the video games' style by introducing a different setting and group of personalities in subsequent series.
Key Producers
Rob Mac, mastermind of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the mind behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will serve as showrunners on the series via their companies, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be joined by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
We’ve shared magnificent collaborations with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a combined six series and 32 seasons of television, and we couldn’t be more excited that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” said Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a announcement. “I have no doubt that they will tell this story in a way that is fresh, gripping, and wildly entertaining. We also want to thank our partners at Ubisoft for trusting us with this cherished property.”
Upcoming Developments
Mac will also star in the show, but as of now, we are unsure of what part that could be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was recently renewed for a second instalment, with FX and Disney agreeing to a new overall deal with the showrunner.
“Having the opportunity with Noah Hawley is a fantasy come true,” remarked Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been incredibly generous, trusting us with one of the most famous video-game realms ever created. And through it all, my FX family always encourages me with their ongoing confidence and backing.”
“What appeals to me about the Far Cry game franchise is that it’s an anthology show. Every title is a take of a concept, the same way every run of Fargo is a adaptation on a story,” explained Hawley. “To create a big action show that can change from one instalment to the next, while always delving into the nature of society through this intricate and unpredictable perspective, is a dream come true. I’m thrilled to collaborate with Rob and present our shared unconventional, ambitious style to the television.”
A time frame for when we can expect the new Far Cry show has not yet been revealed. The series will stream on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus in other regions.
