Patrick Bamford Signs With Sheffield United Despite Leading Derogatory Chants About Manager Chris Wilder

Patrick Bamford has signed with the Championship side only half a year following starting disrespectful taunts targeting the team's coach, Wilder.

This experienced forward, without a club since leaving Leeds, has signed a contract joining the second-tier strugglers through the winter. His lengthy career at Elland Road was ended by mutual consent this past summer.

One of Bamford’s final notable acts as a Leeds player involved leading insulting songs about Wilder during Leeds' promotion celebrations in April. Now, the one-cap England player will be playing under Wilder as the Blades’ manager looks to pull his beloved club away from the drop zone.

Previous History Between Bamford & the Manager

The pair had previous conflict prior to Leeds earned promotion back to the top flight the previous campaign and United were defeated in the promotion decider by Sunderland. Wilder described Bamford as “a muppet” back when the roles were reversed during the 2018-19 season and Sheffield United won automatic promotion whereas Leeds United missed out in the promotion playoffs.

Reconciliation & Moving Forward

Everything appears has been resolved with Sheffield United, the Championship’s least productive attack, in desperate need of a boost up front and Bamford aiming to resurrect his career.

The song about Wilder spread widely in April. An apologetic Bamford along with Leeds boss, Farke, called the Sheffield United manager the following day.

Chris Wilder said back then: “Spoke with Pat yesterday and I’ve no issue whatsoever with it. I'm uncertain regarding the language from a fellow pro! However I valued and admired him giving me a call.

“We spent a short while and the same again I talked with Daniel Farke as well and we had a longer discussion with him and he is a super guy, a top guy. When I was playing we used to give it and take it and that is an integral part of football at every level, even on Sunday league. I have absolutely no issue. I'm fine with the situation and I said that to Patrick.”

Recent Career Challenges

Bamford made 18 appearances for Leeds in the previous campaign however the ex- Nottingham Forest, Chelsea FC & Middlesbrough striker has struggled with injury over the past few seasons.
