The 'Breaking Bad' Creator Discloses He Has an Idea of How Pluribus Might Finish... Currently.

The acclaimed writer-producer did not foresee that the Apple TV+ show would become a breakout success. “God bless the fans,” he states. “I was surprised by the show being as talked about as it is, and it makes me thrilled beyond words.”

As the debut season of the hit sci-fi show coming to an end—and Season 2 officially in the works—Gilligan and his team reflected on the audience reaction and whether it will shape the narrative path of Pluribus.

Regarding the Tremendous Viewer Reception

Anyone might to get distracted by the constant speculation and fan theories about Pluribus. Gilligan, however, is doing his best to ignore the noise.

“It feels like constantly eating something incredibly sweet and being in a state of bliss,” he says. “It's amazing, but I get wind of it from others, and that's by design. Never in my life searched for my own name online, nor do I ever plan to. Not because I don't care. It's a bottomless pit I know I would fall into and then I'd be never leaving the house from the hardware store and I'd never leave my living room.”

In spite of his concerted efforts, there’s it's impossible to ignore the overwhelmingly positive response to the series. The best he and his team can do is to accept it graciously and try not to let it alter the course of the show.

“We don't try to adjust our writing,” says co-executive producer Alison Tatlock. “Our storytelling is not changed by what people are saying.”

“Better to keep our noses to the grindstone,” he chimes in.

The Central Mystery: Has the creator Know the Conclusion of Pluribus?

So if the writers are not listening by public opinion, does that mean they have mapped out how Pluribus will finally conclude? In short yes… sort of.

“We have some interesting ideas about how the story could conclude,” Gilligan says. “yet we stand ready to abandon a decent plan for a better idea. That philosophy has guided us in well on Better Call Saul and on Breaking Bad even before that. We scrap ideas when we get a better idea and I imagine we will be doing that.”

On the other hand, if they hit a wall, director and writer Gordon Smith has a pretty funny idea to use as a backup.

“I keep pitching that the entire story is inside a snow globe, and that we'll reveal the snow globe and we're in there,” Smith jokes, “but no one is buying it.”

Alternatively, one could always use the legendary finales?

“I'd love for Carol to awaken next to Bob Newhart,” he jokes.

Pluribus can be watched on Apple TV.
