Ex-England skipper Lewis Moody has been backed to face motor neurone disease with "all his might" by ex-colleague and co-World Cup champion Will Greenwood.
The 47-year-old sportsman, found out about the debilitating illness a fortnight back and has shared with a morning news program that he is having trouble processing the consequences of his diagnosis.
Rugby great Rob Burrow and Scotland and British and Irish Lions great Doddie Weir have both died from the disease within the past three years.
"He is the most wonderful human that we admire completely," Will Greenwood, who shared the field with Moody for the national team and club side, shared on BBC Radio 5 Live.
"This is devastating information, because he is a truly good person. And I know there is no order to this stuff - how you leave this planet - but you cheer for decent people."
"He possesses no malice, he is the most positive person you can possibly encounter... and then he had a talent during games to just turn a switch and be a remarkably determined player."

The two players collaborated with multiple teams
Andrea Pinchen, the team's official at the club where Moody played extensively, securing multiple domestic championships and international successes over numerous seasons, also paid tribute to Moody as both an individual and an athlete.
"The numbers, silverware and recognition demonstrate the exceptional athlete Lewis was, but that is just part of the picture," said Pinchen.
"One minute he's parading around with the international prize and the following Friday he'd be in the ticket office where I worked, taking calls from fans if we were exceptionally occupied and helping sell tickets."
"Personally, his commitment to his club along with his kindness and enthusiasm stood out, which made him beloved among colleagues, employees and fans."
